Whittington - Lucy Ellis

New Market, July 7, 1939 -- Miss Lucy Ellen Whittington, 79 years old, a life-long
resident of this community, died this morning at 10:15 o' clock,
five miles west of here. She had been in declining health for six
months and seriously ill the past two weeks. Born on the farm
where she died, Miss Whittington was the daughter of Tyre Glenn
and Julia Ann Beatty Whittington, pioneer residents of this
community. She was educated in the local schools and was a member
of Freedom Baptist Church. Surviving are two brothers, George of
Indianapolis and Reese D. of Salina, Okla., and several nieces
and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 o'clock
Sunday morning at the late residence, and burial will be made at
Indian Creek Cemetery .

Whittington died on Friday. She was born on Possum Ridge 70 years
ago on the farm on which she died. Burial at Indian Creek
Cemetery, Sunday after services at the home.
